Questions 3 ~ 4
For the next two questions, you will hear a four-part harmonic progression. In both examples, the progression will be played four times. There will be a pause of 30 seconds after the first playing and a 1-minute pause after each subsequent playing.

For each question, you are to notate only the bass and the soprano on the staff provided. Do not write the alto and the tenor.

On the lines underneath the staff, you are to write the Roman numeral chord symbols, including the Arabic numbers for any appropriate inversion.
Question 3
Before listening to the progression for the first time, look at the staff below and notice that there are nine chords in the progression, with the first one provided for you. Now listen to the harmonic progression for the first time and begin notating.

Question 4
Before listening to the progression for the first time, look at the staff below and notice that there are once again nine chords in the progression. The first one has been done for you. You are to fill in only the soprano, bass, and chord symbols, including appropriate inversion, for the remaining eight chords.
Now listen to the harmonic progression for the first time and begin notating.

The remaining three Free-Response questions do not require aural prompts. You may answer them in the order you choose, but your time is limited to 45 minutes to complete all three questions. A suggested time for each question is printed in your Practice Exam next to each question number.
